College to offer over £1 million of support to young people

City of Bristol College is to offer over £1 million worth of support to young people starting in September 2011.

The support will include help with transport costs, careers advice and free childcare. The College will also be offering a 20% discount on bus passes for all 16 - 18 year old students.

Keith Elliott, Principal at City of Bristol College, comments: “City of Bristol College already offers a variety of support packages for students who may need help with the costs of coming to College. We will now be improving this support through new government funding and College initiatives.”

Keith adds: “As an educational facility, we are committed to offering opportunities through our first class level of support. We understand that it is a concerning time for learners and parents, but we are confident that the support we have available will enable learners to carry on their educational journey and increase their potential.”

Learners aged 16 - 18 may benefit from £200 worth of bike and cycling equipment as part of the College’s Bike Scheme, a free bus pass, free childcare and a bursary of up to £1,200.

Students wishing to take advantage of the support packages are encouraged to apply early via the College’s website.

This support is available for students who have already applied to City of Bristol College as well as new applicants. There is still time to apply for full-time and part-time courses starting in September.
