Sponsored sleep-out raises money for College's charity
College staff members Gary Mullen and Helen Styles joined more than 100 people from across Bristol to brave the cold in a sponsored sleep-out on Friday 26 February.
Sleeping rough to raise money for homeless charity
The brave volunteers slept rough in the grounds of Pip ‘n’ Jay Church near the Old Market roundabout to raise money for homeless charities across the region. Gary and Helen braved the elements to help raise funds for the Julian Trust, the College’s Charity of the Year.
Gary said: “A big thank you to all those that supported the efforts of Helen Styles and myself on Friday.”
Rain dampened their shelter but not their spirits
“The temperature was relatively mild, although a consistent rain set in between 1am and 6.30am to dampen our spirits. However, it was no match for our improvised cardboard box defences.
“To date, we are absolutely delighted to have raised just under £600 for the Julian Trust.”
The College's Charity of the Year
Julian Trust Night Shelter, also known as the Bristol Night shelter, is an emergency night shelter for homeless people in Bristol. It is located on the edge of St Pauls in Bristol.
City of Bristol College students and employees voted for the Julian Trust Night Shelter to become the College’s Charity of the Year with a target of raising £10,000.
