Yes, chef!
Competition has been hotting-up once again in the search to find Bristol’s most talented chefs. The Chef v Chef contest, which was held at Ashley Down Centre, is the only live cookery competition in Bristol and open to College’s students and local chefs working across the city.
The competition was divided into two categories – one for chefs under 23 and the other for chefs aged 23 years and over. From the many entrants, six finalists were selected from both categories to take part in the grand ‘cook-off’, judged by Bristol-born, Michelin-starred chef Martin Burge (of Whatley Manor, Malmesbury), Ben Bartlett (executive head chef of Scottish and Newcastle brewery) Dan Powell (A former lecturer at the College and now head chef at The Furrow, Buckinghamshire), and Mark Taylor (Evening Post food critic).
The College provides the perfect location to showcase local talent and help put Bristol on the culinary map.
Former College catering student, Jamie Stockdon, who now works at the Glassboat restaurant, was the under-23s winner, with first-year student, Rachel Best named runner-up.
