Nail Services

The course will cover all aspects of nail services such as manicure, pedicure, nail art and nail enhancements.

Photo: Close-up of well-manicured hands.Run at South Bristol Skills Academy, you will be able to practise your skills in the fully equipped salons at College - including 'state of the art' nail bar - and also in your workplace with an assessor. Delivery of the course will also include theory sessions, which will develop your knowledge and understanding.

In addition, the course also offers functional skills in English and Maths which are essential for all jobs, enabling you to become more flexible and adaptable within the workplace.

What will I need?

  • 2 GCSEs at Grade D or above
  • Total commitment, enthusiasm and motivation
  • Record of achievement showing an excellent attendance and punctuality report
  • You will need to be able to communicate with people from every age group, social and ethnic background
  • A personal interview

To be successful on this course, you will need essential skills in reading, writing, communication and maths at the level of the course. If you are bilingual, you will need evidence of your English Language skills.

How long is the course?

The programme can be completed within one year comprising of a six hour day, one day per week, which is in conjunction with employment.

How will I know how I'm doing?

There are no end of course examinations, however, you will be continually assessed on your skills, knowledge and on completion of a portfolio containing evidence of your work. Assessments are carried out in college and in your work place. You will be required to take an exam for functional skills.

How will this help me in the future?

On successful completion of the course you will be able to work in a wide range of nail and beauty establishments and progress onto a Level 2 Beauty qualification.
