Director of Business and Commercial Partnerships
Simon joined City of Bristol College in 2019, creating and launching the newly formed subsidiary company Partners in Bristol to support the West of England skills agenda. In January in 2021 Simon joined the College’s Strategic Leadership Team as Director of Business and Commercial Partnerships.
Simon has over 30 years’ experience at board level within companies across Bristol in a number of sectors including construction, sport and leisure. As Managing Director of Pro5 Soccer Centre, Simon created and developed the brand until the company was sold in 2008 as part of a multi-million pound deal. Simon was appointed a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building in March 2005.
In 2008 Simon entered the Further Education Sector as Managing Director of a new private training provider, which he went on to develop into a successful and award-winning company.
Simon has a passion for adult education and sits on several strategic boards which support the sector. Simon was appointed Chair of the Western Training Providers Network in 2016, a position which he still retains. Simon is also a Director of The Restore Trust and a Trustee of the charity The Key Unlock Potential, which supports ex-offenders to gain employment.
Simon is a proud adopted Bristolian, having attended University there in the 80s’ and has never left.
In 1998 Simon formed Bristol Rover Women’s Football Club. As Chair of the football club for over twenty years, women’s football grew within the city with the club playing in two FA cup finals and two Champions league competitions. Famously in 2015 the club reached the quarterfinals of the Champions League having beaten Barcelona in the previous round.
In his spare time Simon is an accomplished open water swimmer and in 2019 circumnavigated a swim around the Gilli Isles.
