Business Module Level 4 City of Bristol College

The Business Module Level 4 course is part of the HN Flex programme, which allows students to study individual units and gain a Certificate of Unit Credit, with the opportunity to progress onto a Higher National Certificate (HNC) or Higher National Diploma (HND), or further study in Business.

This HN Flex course allows students to explore the nature of business, how to meet the needs of customers, stakeholders and employees, and how external factors affect business performance.

Who is this course for?

Designed for future managers and leaders, this course is suitable for anyone with an interest in business, whether it’s public or private sector, a charity or even starting your own business.

This course for anyone aged 19 or over, for whom a full qualification may not be suitable. You might be already employed and want to develop professionally, needing to fulfil criteria for another qualification, or simply unable to commit to a full qualification.

What you'll learn

Course entry requirements

As the unit is delivered at Level 4, candidates should have a Level 3 qualification. This doesn’t have to be in business, but we do expect candidates to have some background experience in an employment or non-professional capacity.

You should have a minimum of five GCSEs at grades 4-9 (A*-C), including English and Maths. International students must have an English language level of IELTS 6.0 or another recognised equivalent. You will also need to interview for this course.

How is the course delivered and assessed?

This course will be delivered at our Ashley Down Centre, through face-to-face teaching supported with online learning in approximately a 60/40 split.

Future career and study opportunities

The opportunity to study and achieve individual Higher National (HN) units is especially relevant for employed students who are seeking Continuing Professional Development (CPD) as well as employment progression opportunities.

After completing the Business Module Level 4, students have the opportunity to progress to completing a Higher National Certificate (HNC) or Higher National Diploma (HND). After this, progression opportunities include higher-level Business qualifications, or various careers in a range of sectors.
