Management and Leadership Level 5 City of Bristol College

Learn the tools needed to be a successful manager and effectively lead a team. The programmes are designed to be flexible and provide students with up-to-date management theory and practice.

Who is this course for?

The course is aimed at people from a wide range of different workplaces. It is not essential to be in a management role already, but it is important to be in a job role where you can draw on your workplace experiences and knowledge to be able to apply the content of the course. Successful students on this course have come from all sectors of the economy, cover a wide age range and have varied educational backgrounds.

  • Conducting a management project
  • Managing ideas and innovation
  • Plus 3 other units

The course fee includes membership of the Chartered Management Institute (CMI).

Course entry requirements

You must have experience in a supervisory/ managerial/ coaching/mentoring role to join this course (one to three years).

You must have a good standard of English and Maths and you may have a range of qualifications, or gained experience in your professional role or other relevant training.

Full or part time employment (continuous voluntary/charity role could be considered too). This condition must be met.

Level 4 qualification in any discipline.

If one of the conditions 2 or 3 is not met, a candidate needs to be interviewed.

How is the course delivered and assessed?

All modules are assessed by coursework, there are no examinations. Some modules are assessed by an assignment based on the workplace, others are based on case studies or practical tasks.

Future career and study opportunities

The qualification has been designed with regard progression onto further programmes, especially the CMI Level 7 Extended Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership.
