Course overview

Cisco CCNA 3: Enterprise Networking, Security and Automation City of Bristol College

Enterprise Networking, Security, and Automation is the third of three Cisco Networking Academy courses aligned with the CCNA Certification Exam 200-301.

In this course, you will build on the skills and knowledge gained in previous modules to design, secure, and automate wide area networks (WANs). As large and complex infrastructures, WANs demand advanced expertise in network operation and cybersecurity.

You will explore virtualisation and automation, two transformative areas of modern networking, alongside emerging trends in artificial intelligence (AI) and sustainable networking practices.

By understanding how AI enhances network efficiency and how sustainable technologies reduce environmental impact, you’ll be equipped to meet the evolving demands of enterprise networks in a connected and conscientious world.

Additional information

Who is this course for?

This course is the third, and final, of three CCNA courses covering the learning content required for the CCNA Certification Exam 200-301.

It is specifically for students who have successfully completed CCNA 1: Introduction to Networks and CCNA 2: Switching, Routing and Wireless Essentials.

What you'll learn

The course comprises 14 modules, covering networking, security and automation in large, enterprise networks. The material is provided in an online course through the Cisco Networking Academy and will be delivered in Instructor-led classes, teaching concepts and theory, putting this into practice using Cisco switching and routing hardware and network-simulation software.

By the end of this course, you will be able to configure, troubleshoot, and secure enterprise network devices. You will be versed in application programming interfaces (APIs) and the configuration management tools that make network automation possible.

Course entry requirements

Candidates should have completed the first two of the three Cisco Networking Academy courses, CCNA 1: Introduction to Networks and CCNA 2: Switching, Routing and Wireless Essentials.

It may also be suitable for those wishing to recertify their existing CCNA qualification from an older syllabus.

How is the course delivered and assessed?

The course is delivered through a combination of theoretical instruction and practical hands-on tasks, using both physical networking hardware and simulation software. Key areas of focus include core networking concepts, network security, automation, artificial intelligence (AI), and sustainable networking practices.

Assessment is conducted throughout the course via the online Cisco Networking Academy platform. AI-enhanced tools are used to provide adaptive quizzes, instant feedback, and personalised learning support, helping learners track their progress more effectively.

Checkpoint exams are integrated throughout the course, culminating in a formal final exam that must be passed to successfully complete the course and earn a certificate from the Cisco Networking Academy.

Future career and study opportunities

When you have completed this course, you will have gained the practical experience you need to prepare for the 200-301 CCNA certification exam.

You will also have the skills required for associate-level roles in the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) industry.

Additional costs

For the full CCNA qualification, you are required to sit and pay for the CISCO CCNA vendor assessment through a PearsonVUE testing centre.
