Civil Engineering Technician (Apprenticeship) City of Bristol College

Apprentices in this role provide technical support to engineers and construction professionals. Civil engineering technicians assist with preparing and producing plans, designs and documentation in line with industry standards such as CDM and DMRB. They work within statutory and regulatory requirements and follow health, safety and wellbeing procedures.

Technicians use engineering principles to carry out calculations, analyse data and create sketches, diagrams and models to aid problem solving. You will use digital tools including CAD and BIM to support visualisation, communication and assessment of civil engineering projects.

You will develop the full range of knowledge, skills and behaviours (KSBs) required by the Level 3 apprenticeship standard.

Course entry requirements

  • Strong performance in a relevant A-Level subject, or adequate performance across more than one GCE subject
  • GCSE grades A*–C or 9–4 in English and Maths (or equivalent)

How is the course delivered and assessed?

Delivery: On-site, one day release per week.

Assessment: End Point Assessment (EPA) at the end of the programme to assess full KSB competency.

  • Level 4 HNC/HND
  • Degree study in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Surveying, Building Services, Quantity Surveying and related fields
