Who is this course for?
This programme is open to any adult available for advanced learning loan funding and is specifically funded under the Government’s Free Courses for Jobs initiative, so if you are aged 24 and above and live in the West of England Combined Authority, you can be fully funded for this course.
What you'll learn
This programme is designed to teach you the knowledge, skills and understanding of Cyber Security to work in a network security team, as a freelance cyber specialist or to seek an opportunity for other relevant employment.
During the course, you will cover units that focus on the principles of cyber security, including threat intelligence, testing, vulnerability, incident response, legislation and ethical conduct to enable you to gain professional skills and behaviours.
Course entry requirements
There are no formal qualifications that are required, but applicants are expected to have obtained Level 2 qualifications to demonstrate that they can work at the next attainment level.
You would be expected to be digitally confident, although no formal computing qualifications are required.
How is the course delivered and assessed?
The course is delivered across 6 units which are sequenced and structured to build upon each other and utilise the knowledge of the prior to inform the next.
You will be creating practical outcomes that will form part of your own portfolio but will be assessed. Work will be assessed internally and moderated externally.
Future career and study opportunities
Successful completion of this course can lead to further study opportunities within Cyber Security Development. The qualification also enables progression into a variety of entry or junior roles and/or careers such as a Network Engineer and Security Intelligence Officer.
