Who is this course for?

This course is ideal for creative individuals looking to gain a solid foundation in design and progress to a Level 3 course or a career in the creative industries.

What you'll learn

You’ll develop key skills in drawing, digital design, model-making, visual communication, and presentation.

You’ll also gain experience in the full design process – from idea generation to final outcomes.

You’ll begin exploring how emerging technologies like AI and sustainable practices can be used to enhance creative thinking and responsible design.

Course entry requirements

4 x GCSEs at 3 or above including maths and/or English or equivalent or a Level 1 qualification in a relevant subject.

We will invite you to a course information meeting event where you will receive information, advice, and guidance about the course you have applied for. This will be an opportunity for you to gain valuable information about the course and give you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

You will provide a copy of your last school report and / or a reference from an employer or relevant professional other. This is to ensure we can support you to be able to achieve well on the course. We are firmly committed to finding the right course for you to ensure you can flourish.

How is the course delivered and assessed?

All assessment is through coursework – there are no exams.

Additional costs

We provide the basics, but you may need to purchase additional art materials from our on-site art shop.

Students from low-income households can apply to the Learner Support Fund for help with these costs.
