Make yourself more employable by building your skills and knowledge in electrical installation.
This highly practical one-year (9 hour per week) course will introduce you to electrical installation and help you develop the skills you will need to progress onto a Level 2 course, an Apprenticeship or employment.
You will complete a Level 1 BTEC Certificate in Construction and a Level 1 BTEC Award in Personal and Social Development as part of the course. You will also take English and Maths Functional skills qualifications or resit GCSE Maths or English if you gained a grade 3 at school.

What you'll learn
During this course, you will develop your personal and practical skills and complete a series of electrical installation assignments.
Students will complete the following vocational units:
- Making an electrical circuit
- Costing a small repair job
- Drawing a plan of a room
- Developing a personal progression plan
As part of this course, you will develop your employment skills and undertake volunteering or work experience.
Course entry requirements
To join this course, you will need 2 GCSEs Grade 3 (D) including Maths and English.
How is the course delivered and assessed?
You will be assessed in a variety of ways to give you the best opportunity to demonstrate your skills throughout the year.
You will also complete an English and Maths assessment/examination.
Future career and study opportunities
On successful completion of the course you may be able to progress to the Level 2 Diploma in Electrical course. You could also apply for an apprenticeship in the Electrical industry or employment.
The course is free to anyone between the ages of 16-18.
Construction trade Work wear uniform £60.00 (1 pair of work wear trousers, 3 x COBC embroidered polo shirts, 1 x COBC embroidered hoody or fleece)

Text book £30.00
The total cost for the work-wear uniform, boots and text book for your chosen course is £120.00. During Induction, your course Lecturers will give you further information on where to pay. (Cheques can be made payable to the City of Bristol College). A receipt will be issued at point of payment.
For families on a limited income, you can apply to the Learner Support Fund to meet the cost of the uniform, boots and text book. Please pick up an application pack from Learner Services at any of the City of Bristol College sites throughout August or during enrolment / start of the course further information about financial support and other support services is available on the website.
