European Computer Driving License (ECDL) Level 2 Certificate City of Bristol CollegeThis flexible course is a highly recognised IT qualification in the workplace and is the preferred qualification for many employers. Who is this course for?
This course is suitable for those wishing to develop IT skills as part of their professional development or to enhance employment opportunities.
What you'll learn
During this course, you will need a minimum of 16 credits which includes the mandatory unit of improving productivity. You can make up credits by completing a Level 1 unit but you must gain at least six credits at Level 2.
For both the Award and Certificate at Level 1 and 2 you can choose from a variety of units to make up the required number of credits. You will be able to choose from word processing, spreadsheets, database and presentation software.
Course entry requirements
To join this course, you need to have achieved an IT qualification at Level 1 or equivalent. Students must have English skills equivalent to Level 1 to enable them to understand written instructions and information.
How is the course delivered and assessed?
This course is assessed through examinations throughout the year and you will receive regular feedback on your progress.
Most of the learning will be done through the use of college workbooks, workshop settings, with tutors available to help where necessary.
It is also possible to use the online facility to do extra practice outside of college.
Future career and study opportunities
After successfully completing this course, your ECDL is a professional development qualification which can open up opportunities within existing employment or for new employment.
This Level 2 qualification can also provide skills for students to consider other courses within the college such as the Business Admin Level 2 or progress to do a Business Administration Apprenticeship.
There may be opportunities to do specific professional qualifications such as an AAT Accounting course.
Additional costs
The course is eligible for adult funding and students who apply that have never achieved a Level 2 before or are in receipt of benefits will be able to do the course for free.
As a City of Bristol College student, you may incur additional costs to attend your course. For example, it is likely you may need to pay for travel and stationery.
Many courses offer learning opportunities that you may need to pay for. This may include things like study visits and visiting speakers. We will let you know in advance if there will be additional costs.
If you are on a limited income, you may be able to receive help from our Learner Support Funding Bursary.
