Who is this course for?
The foundation level programme for Health Professions is year zero of selected degree courses in the Allied Health Professions, Social Work and Nursing and Midwifery departments.
What you'll learn
You will study a mix of subjects that will prepare you to progress onto your chosen degree course. They could include:

- Human biology

Course entry requirements
To join this course you will need satisfactory DBS clearance and to complete an occupational health screening.
You’ll need to successfully complete an interview.
How is the course delivered and assessed?
Most of the teaching takes place at the City of Bristol College, although you’ll also be taught at our Glenside Campus.
Both sites have outstanding learning facilities, and you’ll be taught by an inspirational, supportive team, who’ll help you get ready for your degree course.
The teaching staff understand what’s required to succeed at the next level and the course is designed to get you academically and mentally ready.
You’ll have the opportunity to engage with students already studying healthcare degrees in teaching sessions that are available to help shape your career path.
Staff will be on hand to offer practical support and give informal advice on your career options.
You’ll be assessed using a mixture of formal examinations, oral presentations, written tests, assignments, project, laboratory reports and your learning portfolio.
Future career and study opportunities
There are 12 pathways through the foundation level programme. After successful completion of the course and a health screening questionnaire, you can progress onto a variety of undergraduate degrees including, but not limited to; BSc (Hons) Midwifery, BSc (Hons) Nursing or BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy.
After passing this foundation year, you’ll get a guaranteed place on one of the following UWE Bristol degrees:
