Gel Polish City of Bristol CollegeThis three-week course is for adults who want to build their profile of skills to start a career within the beauty/nail services industry or add to the range of treatments they offer as a practising beauty therapist. You will have three three-hour sessions with a qualified beauty therapy lecturer to allow plenty of time for you to practise and receive feedback on your technique.

Who is this course for?
This course is for adults aged 19+ who want to expand their skills in beauty therapy, whether or not they already work in the industry.
What you'll learn
Over the three sessions you will learn:
- Health & Safety
- Professional products and equipment available for a gel polish service
- Contraindications, diseases and disorders
- How to carry out a consultation
- Filing and cuticle work
- How to use files and buffers
- How to apply gel polish
- Aftercare advice
Course entry requirements
4 GCSEs at Grade 3 or above including Maths and/or English or a Level 1 Diploma in a relevant subject plus GCSEs in Maths and/or English, or a Functional Skills qualification in Maths and/or English.
We will invite you to a Course information meeting event where you will receive information, advice, and guidance about the course you have applied for. This will be an opportunity for you to gain valuable information about the course and give you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.
You will provide a copy of your last school report and/or a reference from an employer or relevant professional other. This is to ensure we can support you to be able to achieve well on the course.
Some Level 2 Technical qualifications may require a slightly higher entry requirement based on the specific content of the course. This may include having English or Maths at a Grade 4

How is the course delivered and assessed?
The course is delivered through practical demonstrations followed by the opportunity for students to carry out the treatment and the lecturer to provide feedback. You will also learn the theory required to achieve your qualification.
Future career and study opportunities
After completing this course, you could progress to Level 2 Pedicure ABT Certificate. When you achieve the manicure, pedicure and gel polish certificates, you could progress to Level 3 NVQ in Nail Services and work in the nail services industry.

As a City of Bristol College student, you may incur additional costs to attend your course. For example, it is likely you may need to pay for travel and stationery.
If you are on a limited income, you may be able to receive help from our Learner Support Funding Bursary.
No additional beauty kit is required for this course. All equipment will be provided.
