Hair and Media Make up Level 2 Diploma City of Bristol CollegeThis course is the foundation for building a career as a professional make-up artist. The Level 2 Certificate in Make-up is necessary for those progressing to the second-year course (Theatrical make-up diploma).
The make-up certificate course consists of theory and practical units that focus on the skills needed to work as a freelance make-up artist in retail, bridal, fashion and photography and is the underpinning knowledge for those wanting to progress to TV, film and theatre make-up.

Who is this course for?
Anyone aged 16-18 with an interest in make-up artistry.
What you'll learn
You will learn the fundamental theory that supports make-up artistry such as anatomy and physiology, health and safety, legislation and client care.
You will learn the skills to be able to provide eyelash and eyebrow tinting, day make-up, evening make-up, special occasion looks as well as high fashion and editorial techniques. Avant-garde hair and make-up and body art is included within this course and the certificate consists of 5 core units and additional certificates. You will need to complete online exams, written assignments, live practical assessments as well as sketchbooks and design plans.
Course entry requirements
4 x GCSEs at 3 or above including maths and/or English or equivalent or a Level 1 qualification in a relevant subject.

How is the course delivered and assessed?
You will learn from our experienced and supportive teachers through a mix of classroom work, practical activities and competition work.
Assessments are carried out as practice (pre-observation) assessments and final assessments as well as theory exams and assignments.
Future career and study opportunities
Your next steps are to progress on to year two, Theatrical and Media Make-up. This will allow you to learn prosthetics making, special effects, TV and film make-up which will then lead to applying to study make-up at university.
If you choose to complete after year one you will be qualified to work in retail, photographic work and as a self-employed make-up artist.

The cost of the kit is £90 and the cost of the black hoodie is £25.
