This course provides learners with an in-depth knowledge of core subject areas in health and social care to support progression into higher education, the workplace or further learning in related subject areas at Level 4 and above.

Who is this course for?

This course is for adult learners (19+) who are either working in health and social care or who are looking to work in health and social care in the future.

What you'll learn

9 mandatory units, including Human Growth and Development, Communication in Health and Social Care and Psychological Perspectives in Health and Social Care. There will also be teaching around Reflective Practice and academic and study skills.

Course entry requirements

You will be expected to be either working within health and social care, or prepared to undertake a placement in a health and social care setting for 75 hours. We would like you to have at least Level 2 Functional Skills in English or a GCSE 4 (C), but we are happy to discuss this with you at interview if you don’t.

How is the course delivered and assessed?

Learners build a portfolio of evidence which meets unit criteria. Written work is graded A* to D. The course culminates with an externally marked, controlled assessment, also graded A* to D.

Future career and study opportunities

The Certificate supports learners’ access to higher education and progression to further learning at Level 4 and above, and a wide range of job roles within the health and social care sector.
