Holistic Therapies Diploma Level 3 City of Bristol CollegeThis is a one-year, part-time course which focuses on the principles and practices of holistic therapies. Students will learn how to best treat different areas of the body, using techniques like aromatherapy, body massage, Indian head massage and hot stone massage, as well as health and safety, client care and communication.

Who is this course for?
This course is for adults aged 19+ who are interested in broadening their depth of knowledge around the body, how to correctly care for it and promote a healthy lifestyle.
What you'll learn
You will gain industry knowledge and experience through hands-on classes with both students and paying clients in a beauty therapy salon at our South Bristol Skills Academy. You will learn the basic principles of health and safety and how to correctly care for and store products, as well as gaining an in-depth understanding of anatomy and physiology, including the muscular, digestive, skeletal and respiratory system.
You will study aromatherapy, Swedish body massage, Indian head massage and hot stone massage, with a focus on which methods are best to treat clients’ individual concerns.
Course entry requirements
To join this course, you must have four GCSEs at Grade 4 including Maths, English and Science, or you may have achieved a Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Therapy.
How is the course delivered and assessed?
Students must wear the uniform tunic and trousers and black, closed shoes to all lessons. Jewellery should be kept to a minimum and nails but be clean and cannot be past natural length. You will be in class three days a week which is made up of practical and theory lessons in the salon, and you will also gain a minimum of 56 hours’ work experience.
You will be assessed throughout the year in a variety of practical tasks and online exams. You will be asked to gather this evidence within your portfolio of work, which will also help you to progress into employment in the future.
Future career and study opportunities
After completing this course, students are fully-qualified practitioners who are ready to work in the industry. Past students have gone on to work freelance, be employed by large organisations or continue their studies.
Students can choose to specialise in Sports Massage Therapy at the College or can go elsewhere to study Reiki, crystal healing and further nutritional studies.
Additional costs
Please note that this course incurs a tuition tee of £280 in addition to the course fee, payable at enrolment. The Advanced Learner loan is available, subject to eligibility, to cover the cost of the course fee.
Students on this course must purchase a uniform which is £50.40 as well as a professional kit which is £120.
