ICT Diploma Level 3 City of Bristol CollegeThis full-time course is a Level 3 programme that is designed as a practical alternative to traditional school leaver academic routes. The course covers programming, software development, network security, hardware and computer systems.
This is a full-time vocational course, offered at our South Bristol Skills Academy and is suitable for anyone aged 16+. The course covers a range of IT specialisms.

Who is this course for?
This course is for anyone aged 16+. It is a 1-year vocational programme that will expand on the IT skills you learned in school, and prepare you for working or studying further in this area.
What you'll learn
This course covers a range of computing specialisms designed to give you up-to-date knowledge and skills to progress in the tech sector. During this course you will cover both software and hardware aspects of Computing and IT. All units are internally marked and there are no external exams or assessments.
The units are aimed to cover the following areas over:
• Programming
• Information Technology Systems
• Configuring and Managing Systems
• Data Modelling
• IT Technical Support
• Cyber Security
• IT Project Management
Course entry requirements
4 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above, which must include English and Maths, or equivalent (Level 2 Functional Skills), a Higher Diploma, NVQ 2 or Level 2 Diploma at merit grade with ideally GCSE English and Maths at minimum Grade C or equivalent (Level 2 Functional Skills).
You will be enrolled on the Diploma, which is a one-year course. Upon successful completion of year one, you could progress on to the L4 HNC course.
How is the course delivered and assessed?
All units are marked and internally and graded Pass, Merit or Distinction. There are no exams or external assessments. Assessment will cover technical applied knowledge and skills, enabling you to demonstrate knowledge and competency. You will receive guidance and support from your teachers to enable you to develop and improve ahead of each assignment.
Future career and study opportunities
This qualification is designed to give you a practical understanding of the computing and digital sector, and the routes available in the industry. As a Level 3 qualification, the common progression is onto our Computing Level 4 programmes, however, there are routes available to more creative courses such as Games Design and Digital Graphic Design.
Additional costs
This course is free to attend for anyone aged between 16-18. There is no formal kit list for consumables. If you are on a limited income, you may be eligible to receive help with these costs from our Learner Support Funding Bursary.
Learners who are 19+ and do not already have a level 2 Qualification will also be funded.
