Introduction to Service Industries City of Bristol College

This course will help develop your interpersonal skills, build your confidence and self esteem as well as give you a taste of the different industries that you could progress to in year two. 

The course will include modules such as communication, team working and organisation skills as well as customer service and planning and promoting an event.

You will have the opportunity to have hands on experience within our state-of-the-art beauty and hair salons, restaurant and kitchens as well as an aircraft cabin.

This course is for young people aged 16-18.

Who is this course for?

This course is for school leavers who have a strong desire to work with general public within the different service industries.

What you'll learn

You will learn about the skills needed to be successful within the service industries with hands on experience provided where possible.

You will also continue to study English and Maths to help equip you to meet the criteria required for employment.

Course entry requirements

We will invite you to a course information meeting event where you will receive information, advice and guidance about the course you have applied for. This will be an opportunity for you to gain valuable information about the course and give you the opportunity to tour our excellent facilities and ask any questions you may have.

You will be asked to provide a copy of your last school report and/or a reference from an employer or relevant professional other. This is to ensure we can support you to be able to achieve well on the course.

You need 3 GCSEs at Grade 1 to Grade 3, including Maths and English, or a previous vocational qualification.

Some Level 1 qualifications in trade-based subjects may require a slightly higher entry requirement based on the specific content of the course.

Additional costs

As a City of Bristol College student, you may incur additional costs to attend your course. For example, it is likely you may need to pay for travel and stationery.

The course will cost £180.00. This will cover a variety of visits, linked to your course, a uniform and materials we will be using in specific units.

If you are on a limited income, you may be able to receive help from our Learner Support Funding Bursary.
