We offer a programme of short courses at a range of levels tailored to your needs.
Who is this course for?
This course is suitable for people of working age who wish to learn computing skills.
There is a course for you, whether you are an absolute beginner or you know the basics and want to improve your skills.
What you'll learn
The level you study at will be determined by an initial assessment which you will complete before joining a course. The levels include:
Entry Level 1 is for absolute beginners. You will learn basic skills including:
- learning how to use a mouse
- basic keyboard skills
- creating, saving and printing documents
- using emails.
Entry Level 2 will build on your existing computer skills. Skills you will learn include:
- copying and pasting
- making your documents look professional
- developing your email knowledge.
Entry Level 3 will build on your existing knowledge and skills. Skills you will learn include:
- how to search the internet and use internet images and maps in your documents
- how to find the information you need in a text
- how to control the way that an image looks on your page
- how to use a memory stick
- basic spreadsheet skills.
Course entry requirements
To join the course your level of English needs to be above Entry Level 1 and you must have been a resident in the UK, EU or EEA for the last three years.
This course is for adults aged 19+ to retirement age. No previous experience required.
How is the course delivered and assessed?
You will learn in a friendly and supportive environment.
You will have plenty of time to practice your IT skills during the course.
Our IT courses are formally assessed through exams.
Future career and study opportunities
There are multiple levels within IT which you can progress onto.
As a City of Bristol College student, you may incur additional costs to attend your course. For example, it is likely you may need to pay for travel and stationery.
To keep everyone safe, we’ve reduced the number of people in our buildings at one time. Most of our courses are online for the time being.
