Who is this course for?

This course is designed for anyone with an interest in learning more about caring for small animals.

What you'll learn

You will learn about the basics of nutrition and how this helps to create feeding plans. You will study accommodation design and look at the importance of suitable enrichment. You will consider animal health and hygiene and how this relates to the welfare of animals in your care.

Course entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements but we recommend you have GCSEs or Functional Skills in Maths and English.

How is the course delivered and assessed?

Delivery is classroom-based and there will be some hands-on practical experience in our Small Animal Centre.

Assessment will be by worksheet activities and practical tasks.

Future career and study opportunities

This course provides a useful taster if you are thinking of joining our part-time City & Guilds Level 2 Animal Care course.
