NCFE CACHE Level 1 Diploma in Caring for Children City of Bristol CollegeThis qualification encourages an understanding of the knowledge and the skills needed to care for young children.
You will cover children’s growth, learning and development. There are also units to help with self-development.
The course is an introductory pathway to getting you on your childcare journey. The course is designed to ensure that you develop core fundamental childcare skills, knowledge and behaviours.
During the course, you will secure work experience in a childcare setting to gain a ‘taste’ of the industry, as well as embarking on trips to extend your knowledge and ignite your passion for the industry.
Throughout the course, you will be introduced to guest speakers from various different careers related to childcare to help you think about your next steps.

Course entry requirements
3 x GCSEs at Grade 2 including Maths and English, or previous vocational qualification.
However, if you don’t have any formal qualifications, don’t worry, simply let us know and we can assess you to ensure that you will be able to achieve well on the course.
We will invite you to a course information meeting event where you will receive information, advice and guidance about the course you have applied for. This will be an opportunity for you to gain valuable information about the course and give you the opportunity to tour our excellent facilities and ask any questions that you may have.
You will be asked to provide a copy of your last school report and/or a reference from an employer or relevant professional other. This is to ensure that we can support you to be able to achieve well on the course.

How is the course delivered and assessed?
This course is delivered using a wide range of different teaching methods, independent learning, practical activities and visits to different settings.
Learners will need to complete workbooks to demonstrate their knowledge as well as designing posters, PowerPoint presentations and leaflets.
Future career and study opportunities
Successful learners can progress to Level 2 qualifications in health and social care or childcare or can apply for an apprenticeship in the setting that they choose.
Progression into further studies will also depend on achievements in English and Maths.
