Who is this course for?
This course is designed for anyone who is aged 19+ and wants to start a new career in tech.
The aim of the course is to be accessible through a blended model, with learning content available through Code Institute’s sophisticated platform and supported by facilitated by classroom-based learning here at City of Bristol College.
Whether you are in work or currently seeking employment, this course is ideal for helping you to make the transition and move into a new lucrative career.
What you'll learn
These qualifications will develop and extend your digital and IT skills to prepare for different roles in the digital and creative industries within Software Development.
They are designed for job roles in other industries where specific digital and IT skills are required, such as finance, marketing, machining and manufacturing.
The course will teach you how to use and write code in the programming languages ‘Python’ and ‘JavaScript’. You will also learn how to use Object-Oriented Programming as well as undertake Software Testing.
The course also covers Maths for Computing and Robot Technology. All of this will also be holistically underpinned by the concept of project management for computing projects.
Course entry requirements
There are no formal entry requirements, however suitability to learn at the attainment level of Level 3 will need to be assured.
We would be looking at applicants being educated at Level 2 and having good literacy and numeracy skills, whether holding a GCSE at grade C/4 or Functional Skills Level 2.
How is the course delivered and assessed?
The course is delivered in a blended model, with learning content available via Code Institute’s sophisticated platform and supported by facilitated classroom-based learning here at City of Bristol College.
You will attend college one day a week and your work will be project-based which will be assessed. The course is composed of 7 units, all of which will have a project that will meet set learning outcomes and criteria.

This course will support you to enter employment within differing roles in the digital and creative industries and other industries requiring specific digital and IT skills within Software Development.
