This apprenticeship was created in association with the Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA) who are established across the world as the leading trade association for all those involved in the lifting industry. On successful completion of the end point assessment you will be qualified for a career working on all types of manual lifting equipment.
Who is this course for?
This course is for any UK citizen aged 16+ who wants to pursue a career using lifting equipment.
What you'll learn
This qualification covers a range of complex engineering tasks. You will learn about engineering materials, mechanical principles, and how health & safety must be applied to the lifting industry, as well as all the technical knowledge that is required to successfully operate as a lifting engineer.
On successful completion of this course, you will be awarded an ST0872 Lifting Equipment Technician – Apprenticeship Training Certificate. This internationally recognised LEEA (Lifting Equipment Engineers Association) qualification enables those working in the lifting industry or those who looking to pursue lifting engineering as a career to gain knowledge, practical experience and the all-important certification often sought by employers, including:
- LEEA Foundation Certificate
- LEEA Lifting Accessories Diploma (LAC)
- LEEA Manual Lifting Machines Diploma (MLM)
You will also develop customer communications and lifelong learning skills, applying what you learn on the course to the wider industry context.
Course entry requirements
You must be employed in the lifting industry and should have relevant GCSEs to a good standard, including English and maths.
How is the course delivered and assessed?
Lessons will be remotely delivered every month by an experienced lifting engineer.
Regular discussions with apprentice trainer will help to reinforce key points while also providing the additional support and motivation.
Your tutor will provide regular guidance and feedback to ensure that you are ready for online exams.
This course is assessed through computer-based exams and a synoptic assessment, which draws on and assesses knowledge and understanding from across the qualification as a basis and preparation for EPA.
Future career and study opportunities
Our course incorporates specialist LEEA Assessments, providing successful candidates with Advanced Programme certificates and a LEEA TEAM card. The TEAM card provides evidence of qualifications and identity and is CSCS approved. LEEA members work in every aspect of the lifting industry, from design, manufacture, refurbishment and repair, through to the hire, maintenance and use of lifting equipment.
