Mental Health & Wellbeing Level 2 Programme

The aim of the Certificate in Understanding Children and Young People’s Mental Health course is to increase the learner’s knowledge and awareness of children and young people’s mental health. By completing the qualification, learners will develop knowledge of mental health in children and young people which would support progression onto further qualifications and into relevant employment in the health and social care or education sectors.

The Certificate in Understanding Nutrition and Health course is designed for learners who want to increase their knowledge and understanding of nutrition and health in areas such as healthy eating, nutritional needs, weight management, eating disorders and food safety in the home environment.

You will cover a variety of units which may include the following:

– Understand children and young people’s mental health in context
– Understand factors which may affect children and young people’s mental health
– Understand how to support children and young people with mental health concerns
– Explore principles of healthy eating
– Consider nutritional needs of a variety of individuals
– Understanding eating disorders

Four GCSEs at Grade 3+ including English Language and Maths. Learners have the potential opportunity to study GCSE English and/or Maths if not already achieved

Understanding of the nature of the programme and subject matter and consideration of emotional resilience required.

This course is assessed through a portfolio of evidence. This means that you will complete a range of practical and written tasks that demonstrate your knowledge and skills.

Assessment methods may include:
– Written assignments
– Workbooks and task-based activities
– Professional discussions
– Practical observations (where applicable)

All assessments are internally assessed by your tutor/assessor and externally quality assured by NCFE to ensure national standards are met.

There are no final exams; instead, you build evidence throughout the course to show your competence and understanding.

Successful learners can progress to Level 3 qualifications in health and social care or childcare or can apply for an apprenticeship in the setting that they choose.

Progression onto further studies will also depend on achievements in English and Maths.
