Looking for a career as a plasterer? This short plastering course will teach you fundamental plastering skills.
Attendance for this course is one day per week for 10 weeks.
This course is for adults aged 19+.

This course is for adults aged 19 and over who want to develop their plastering knowledge and skills.
It’s a hands-on practical course.
What you'll learn
On the course you will learn:
- Health and safety requirements to be able to plaster safely
- How to identify plastering materials
- How to mix plasters
- How to cut and fix plasterboards to timber walls/ceilings
- How to stick plasterboards to solid walls with adhesive
- How to fix beads to corners and prepare walls for plastering
- How to plaster walls to a standard for painting
- How to repair damaged plasterboard and solid walls, using plasterboard undercoat plasters and finish plaster
Course entry requirements
The essential requirement for entry onto this course is to have achieved GCSEs grade D (3) or Level 1 Functional Skills in English.
How is the course delivered and assessed?
You will be assessed in a number of different ways and receive regular feedback in reviews to guide your progress. Some of the ways in which your success will be measured are via attendance and practical assessments.
Future career and study opportunities
On successful completion of the course you may be able to apply for an apprenticeship within the plastering industry or obtain employment.
As a City of Bristol College student, you may incur additional costs to attend your course. For example, it is likely you may need to pay for travel and stationery.
You will need your own protective footwear for practical sessions. You may also need a high visibility vest, protective goggles and gloves for some tasks. We offer some equipment which is free for you to use in College.
If you are on a limited income, you may be able to receive help from our Learner Support Funding Bursary.
To keep everyone safe, we’ve reduced the number of people in our buildings at one time. Most of our courses include sessions taught at the college supported by online learning.
