Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care Award Level 1 City of Bristol College
This qualification develops basic knowledge of the adult social care sector. It covers the type of job roles and services within it, the role of communication and the importance of valuing the individuals that are being cared for. There are five mandatory units that will be covered in this course:
  • Awareness of Communication in Adult Social Care
  • Introduction to the Values and Principles of Adult Social Care
  • Introduction to the Adult Social Care Sector
  • Awareness of the Role and Responsibilities of the Adult Social Care Worker
  • Awareness of the Skills and Attitudes Needed to Work in Adult Social Care 

This course will be taught over 15 weeks and will meet one day per week at the Ashley Down campus.

You will be assessed by the tutor based on the work you complete in the classroom and for homework. You must be 19 years old or above and have a good working knowledge of the English language before joining this course. If you don’t know if your English is sufficient for this course, we will assess you during the interview before registering.

There are two opportunities to take this course in the academic year (September – January OR February – June).
