Spanish Pre-Intermediate City of Bristol College

This two-hour-a-week, 12-week programme will transition you from elementary to intermediate Spanish. You will develop your Spanish skills and confidence to communicate in everyday situations. You will also learn more about the grammar of the Spanish language both orally and in writing. The course will consolidate your skills by looking at topic areas in depth and covering the use of language.

Who is this course for?

This 12-week (2 hours per week in College) course is for people who may have spent at least 24 months learning Spanish. Please note this course of study is not suitable if you are a complete beginner.

What you'll learn

There will be a focus on topics such as describing daily routine, talking about what you did yesterday or last week, asking someone’s opinion and giving opinion and discussing plans and future projects. You will work in small groups or in pairs using a variety of enjoyable learning methods and resources to describe events in the past, present and future. Homework will be set to offer an opportunity for independent study, backed up with on-line resources on Moodle.

Course entry requirements

We will invite you to a course information meeting event where you will receive information, advice and guidance about the course you have applied for. This will be an opportunity for you to gain valuable information about the course and give you the opportunity to tour our excellent facilities and ask any questions you may have.

You will be asked to provide a copy of your last school report and/or a reference from an employer or relevant professional other. This is to ensure we can support you to be able to achieve well on the course.

You need 3 GCSEs at Grade 1 to Grade 3, including Maths and English, or a previous vocational qualification.

Some Level 1 qualifications in trade-based subjects may require a slightly higher entry requirement based on the specific content of the course.

To join the course you will need to have completed our Spanish Foundation and Foundation Plus courses, or to have studied Spanish for at least two-years, or to be able to express yourself and cope in everyday situations and to have an interest in the language and bags of enthusiasm and motivation.

How is the course delivered and assessed?

You will be assessed via informal oral and written assessment.

Future career and study opportunities

After successfully completing the Pre-Intermediate Spanish Part 1 course, you will be able progress to the Pre-Intermediate Spanish Part 2 course.
