Who is this course for?

This course is ideal for those who have a passion for the sports and fitness industry and wish to pursue it in a professional capacity leading to further, higher and professional educational qualifications.

What you'll learn

This course blends theory with hands-on practical experience, giving you a strong foundation in the key areas of sport and exercise science. You’ll explore topics such as:

  • Anatomy and physiology
  • Sports psychology
  • Fitness testing and training methods
  • Nutrition for performance
  • Biomechanics and movement analysis
  • Coaching principles and professional practice

Course entry requirements

5 x GCSEs at 4 or above, or a Level 2 equivalent in a relevant subject. You will have gained either English and/or Maths at GCSE 4 or above, or Level 2 Functional skills in English and/or Maths.

We will invite you to a course information meeting event where you will receive information, advice and guidance about the course you have applied for. This will be an opportunity for you to gain valuable information about the course and give you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

How is the course delivered and assessed?

This course is delivered and assessed using real-world scenarios, theory and practical sessions, you will develop the confidence and expertise to analyse performance, support athletes, and understand how the body responds to exercise.

Future career and study opportunities

On successful completion of the first year (Diploma) you will have the opportunity to progress to the second year top-up for a full Extended Diploma. Once completed this you will be on the right pass for either Higher Education/ University or stay on with us to complete your Gym Instructor and Personal Trainer qualification (Endorsed by CIMSPA).

Additional costs

There will be an additional cost to pay prior to the the course starting to cover uniform, Gym memberships and any enrichment activities you may take part in throughout the year. Details of this can be seen in one of our course information sessions you will attend after submitting an application.
