A Business Administration apprentice at City of Bristol College is already making a strong impression, as she builds confidence, develops new skills and embraces opportunities through her Level 3 apprenticeship with the South West Apprenticeship Company.
Charlotte Hennessy joined the college with determination and an openness to learn, quickly becoming a valued member of the team. Her journey highlights not only the benefits of apprenticeships but also the importance of an inclusive and supportive working environment.
Reflecting on her experience so far, Charlotte said: “I am really enjoying my apprenticeship at City of Bristol College, I feel completely supported with the work that I do and I look forward to coming into work every day!
“When I initially started, I was worried that my autism may affect my work as I tend to ask a lot of questions and have trouble socialising with people, but not once have I felt out of place or like my questions are annoying anyone and it feels really nice to know that any adjustments I might need will be supported.
“The team are an amazing group of hardworking people and I feel like I fit in really well! The role is challenging without being overwhelming and I rarely find myself stressed about making mistakes as I know that I won’t be judged and I can learn from them instead of letting them define my work.
“I can feel myself steadily getting more confident in my role and I’m really looking forward to expanding my skills further and experiencing all of the new things that this college has to offer.

“This role has allowed me to have experiences that I never thought I’d have (like meeting the Minister of Employment) and I feel a real sense of pride when people ask me what I do for a job.
“When I think about my future here, I feel excited and hopeful and I can’t wait to see what the next phase of my probation brings!”
Charlotte’s story is a powerful example of how apprenticeships can open doors, build confidence and create meaningful career pathways. Her experience also reflects the college’s commitment to fostering an environment where all learners feel valued and supported.
Lottie Paul, Executive Assistant and Curriculum Administration Team Leader, praised Charlotte’s contribution: “Charlotte has quickly become a valued member of the team. Despite being with us for only a short time, she has made an impressive impact.
“Her drive, positivity, and willingness to learn have been a real joy, and we’re excited to see what she achieves in the future.”
As Charlotte continues her apprenticeship journey, both her growing confidence and enthusiasm signal a bright future ahead; within the college and beyond.
