Apprentices graduate and start new career at energy giant

Three of our apprentices have been celebrated by their employer at a graduation ceremony as they near the end of the programme and start full-time employment.

Harrison Hicks, Isabella Noble and Lucas Smith attended a graduation ceremony at EDF’s main base in Bridgwater earlier this term as they reminisced on their two-year Level 3 Business Administration apprenticeship and looked ahead to their future at the energy company.

Jude Noon was another graduate from the Level 3 programme but sadly could not attend the event.

The ceremony, hosted by EDF, was a quiet affair with close friends and families of the three graduates in attendance and included speeches from the students’ employer before they were presented with their certificates.

EDF’s NSA Operational Capability Lead, Dominic Blythe, said: “We wanted to recognise the hard work the apprentices have put in over the past two years.

“We wanted to put on this graduation from the point of completing the apprenticeship side but also to kickstart their career moving forwards. This is a milestone for them – this is the end but it is also the start.

“It is great to have group of capable and trained individuals at EDF and the support City of Bristol College has given us has been really good and we would not fault it.”

Lucas, who specialised in communications, said he ‘loved meeting different people’ and being able to work ‘across a massive organisation like EDF’. He added: “Getting this exposure is not something a lot of 18-year-olds would have. I now hope to continue working hard and working my way up the ladder.”

For Harry and Isabella, they both enjoyed the opportunity to work in different sectors of the business and get to know loads of different roles.

Our Apprenticeship Trainer, Helen Ceo, said: “I am so proud of our apprentices and what they have achieved over their time at the College. They have done brilliantly to make it this far and to have secured full-time employment with such a fantastic provider.”
