Becoming a Governor at City of Bristol College is an ‘interesting’ and ‘rewarding’ experience

At City of Bristol College, we boast a range of employer connections across our vast offering and at the helm of our further education college sits a board of experienced industry professionals.

Our Corporation carries ultimate legal responsibility for College activities and works closely with our Executive Team, to maintain a long-term focus on our ‘mission statement’ as well as other short-term goals.

All of our governors have a wealth of industry experience and can often be found completing ‘learning walks’ of the Centres, looking to support the curriculum team to deliver the provision to our learners.

Lis Anderson is among those governors, and as a PR communications specialist with more than 20 years in the industry, Lis has a keen creative eye. As a result, she works hand-in-hand with our creative and digital offer and its Head of Department Pasquale Fasulo.

A Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR), Lis co-founded a Bristol-based PR communications consultancy business called AMBITIOUS.

During her ‘learning walks’, Lis supports the team and Pasquale and offers a unique view point into a section of the industry many of our students aspire to enter.

Lis said: “It is so rewarding being a governor at City of Bristol College and being able to take time out of my schedule to support the learners and the tutors, whether that is through career talks and workshops or through data checks and department progression.

“It is interesting, and different from my day-to-day job, but an exciting and rewarding role for me and I look forward to many more learning walks at the College in the coming months and next academic year.”

Lis also offers strong contacts within Bristol. She currently serves as a Board Director of creative industries network Bristol Creative Industries.

Director of Further Education and Head of Department, Pasquale Fasulo, said:“It is great to welcome Lis into our classrooms. Her insight into the creative industry, as well as her employer links, are invaluable to both staff and students and we hope to continue to grow the relationships which Lis has already helped us to blossom.”

Lis makes up our 18-person-strong governing body, which includes our Principal Rich Harris, a student governor and two staff governors.
