Celebrating student achievement as results are released

Students and staff at City of Bristol College are celebrating as exam results are delivered this week, starting with A Levels on 18 August, followed by GCSEs and vocational qualifications on 25 August.

Students were welcomed into College today as they received their results to celebrate with their tutors and get advice and guidance on their next steps, as well as to enrol onto higher education programmes here at City of Bristol College. The results are the first in two years where students have sat exams, following the teacher-assessed grades of the pandemic.

One student, Aspen, achieved A in Physics, A in Maths, B in Psychology and C in Further Maths, and they are now excited to study their Physics degree at Aberystwyth University.

Another, Joy Shipton, achieved two As and a B, and we are very pleased to be welcoming them back in September to study their foundation degree in Art.

Interim CEO and Principal Diane Dimond commented “It is wonderful to celebrate with students after a challenging couple of years of learning. Students have responded well to the changes that the pandemic created and have worked hard, remaining committed to their studies.  On behalf of all of our teaching and support staff, I would like to congratulate our students on their results. It is also important to thank all of our staff for their dedication to our students and their achievements.

While university remains a common progression option for many students, we are seeing an increasing number seeking a higher apprenticeship to kickstart their careers while they continue learning. We work with hundreds of employers in a range of sectors and are currently placing these higher-level learners into apprenticeship roles.

Director of Further Education Pasquale Fasulo commented “Students have worked exceptionally hard this year and we are very proud of their achievements.  A large percentage of our A Level and advanced vocational students will progress to their first-choice university, with some staying with us to study their higher education course, or going directly into employment.  We wish them good luck, and look forward to welcoming our next cohort of students over the next few weeks.”

If you would like to take your next step in education with us, we are now enrolling for September 2022. Adult enrolment is on now and enrolment for school leavers commences on 25 August. We are also accepting applications for our higher education programmes.
