In a move that underscores its commitment to employee well-being, City of Bristol College has announced a significant enhancement to its parental leave policy: doubling the duration of paid paternity leave.
Effective from 1 January 2025, all eligible colleagues will now receive four weeks of fully paid paternity leave, an increase from the previous entitlement of two weeks.
This forward-thinking decision reflects the college’s evolving approach to supporting colleagues during key life milestones. Whilst only a portion of employees may directly benefit from this policy, the change signals a wider cultural shift within the organisation – one that places greater emphasis on work-life balance.
The new policy aligns with growing recognition across sectors that parental leave policies should be more equitable and reflective of modern family structures. It also demonstrates the college’s commitment to fostering a people-first culture, one that prioritises not just career development but also the well-being of its colleagues.
The extended paternity leave forms part of a broader initiative to enhance employee benefits across the board. It is one of many improvements outlined in the newly updated Employee Benefits Booklet that is available for colleagues.
