City of Bristol College partners with The Guild of Guardians to support The Welcome Party

City of Bristol College is proud to announce its partnership with The Guild of Guardians in supporting The Welcome Party, an event dedicated to honouring the cultural and economic contributions of refugees, asylum seekers and migrants in Bristol.

As an official partner, City of Bristol College joins a distinguished list of sponsors for this meaningful event, which will take place on Thursday 7 November at The Mount Without on St Michael’s Hill. By participating, we are reaffirming our commitment to promoting diversity, integration and resilience within our vibrant community.

The Welcome Party, organised by Bristol-based social enterprise ACH, will highlight the shared journeys and contributions of Bristol’s refugee and migrant communities. Attendees will experience headline appearances by Sir Mo Farah, the celebrated athlete and former refugee and MoYah, a musician originally from Mozambique, who will share his powerful story of resilience through music.

The event will also serve as a platform for businesses across Bristol and the West of England to engage in meaningful discussions about diversity and inclusion, fostering connections with organisations that share a commitment to social cohesion and opportunity.

For City of Bristol College, supporting The Welcome Party reflects our dedication to empowering individuals from all backgrounds through education. As MoYah said: “Education is one of the most powerful tools for empowerment” and we are certainly proud to provide learning opportunities that help people to succeed and integrate within our community.

By partnering with The Guild of Guardians and other supporters such as law firm Burges Salmon, housing association Curo and utility company Wessex Water, we are working to make The Welcome Party a celebration of resilience and unity. We stand with all of those who seek to make Bristol a welcoming place of growth and opportunity for everyone.

Fuad Mahamed, CEO of ACH, praised the involvement of all sponsors, emphasising their role in making The Welcome Party a reality and celebrating the diverse voices and experiences that enrich Bristol’s social and economic fabric.

City of Bristol College is honoured to be part of this landmark event and to have the opportunity to contribute to a brighter, more inclusive future for Bristol.
