City of Bristol College’s Principal and Chief Executive designate, Palvinder Singh, announces his withdrawal

City of Bristol College’s Principal and Chief Executive designate, Palvinder Singh, announces his withdrawal from the position which he was due to start in June.

Mr Singh who is currently Deputy Principal Finance, Planning and Business Development at Kidderminster College, NCG gave personal reasons for the decision: “It became apparent during the period preparing to take up the role that this particular opportunity was not right for me nor I for it. I also underestimated the challenge of moving my family from a brilliantly supportive community.  I have discussed this in detail with members of the college’s Board of Governors, and we jointly agreed I would withdraw.

“This has been a difficult decision and not something that I have come to lightly. I have enjoyed and valued meeting so many staff and students at City of Bristol College.  I wish the college every success in the next part of their journey and I will be cheering them along to continue in the excellent work they are all doing.”

Peter Rilett, Chair of the Corporation at City of Bristol College commented: “This has been a difficult joint decision for the Board of Governors and Mr Singh to make, but the Board respects Mr Singh’s wish to continue working more widely across NCG. We wish him well.

“Under the leadership of the college’s outgoing Principal and Chief Executive, Lee Probert, the college has gone from strength to strength, achieving significant improvements in its quality and financial performance.  After 3.5 years at the helm he will leave behind a transformed organisation and a competent team of 900 staff led by focused strategic leadership team who are all collectively committed to their students’ success and the city.

“Whilst the Board is making arrangements to secure a new appointment for the role, we are confident that this team has every ability to successfully take the college forward on the next stage of its improvement journey.”
