City of Bristol College’s Corporation Board is seeking to appoint two external Governors and one Co-opted Member.
The college is searching for members to join the Board who will utilise their experience to positively influence and impact education for the future ambition of the college’s students, people and the incredible city that the college calls home.
New members will either join the Audit Committee, Finance and Resources Committee or Remuneration Committee. The Committee’s Terms of Reference are available here.
The Board is particularly interested in hearing from applicants with skills and experience in any of the following areas:
• Internal audit
• Risk management
• Understanding of governance/charity law
• It/digital (especially related to AI)
• Property and estate management
• Understanding of modern construction and planning
• Procurement/purchasing
• Inspection and oversight in the school or college sector
• Understanding of current national education policy and the local education context
An overview of the individual roles is as follows:
External Governors
- Attendance at four Main Board meetings a year (approx. 2 hours each, plus time to read the papers)
- Attendance to at least three committee meetings a year (approx. 2 hours each, plus time to read the papers in advance)
- Attendance at two Governors’ strategy days throughout the year
- Availability for support between meetings
- Availability to attend some college events
- Complete training as required
Co-opted Member
- Attendance at approx. four committee meetings a year (approx. 2 hours each, plus the time to read the papers)
- Attendance at two Governors’ strategy days and seminars
- Availability for support between meetings
- Availability to attend some college events
- Complete training as required
