Follow your passion for animals: How our Animal Care Courses are transforming careers

Passionate about animals and wish to have a change in your career path?

Hear from three of our adult Animal Care students who have shared their experience.

Three of our students have entered their second year of the Level 3 Animal Care course and there is much to learn. From health checks in our Animal Centre to visits to the local farm, there are a range of different animals for students to work with.

The students remarked that there is plenty of hands on experience and information that is repeated during the course so that you are able to retain what you learn.

One student describes the lessons: “The way they pull it together is quite fantastic.” This further highlights how well the course works for learners and how the college will support learners with their busy schedules.

The students also commented that they’ve joined the course with the shared desire of being able to work with animals, yet come from very different backgrounds. Some may have faced redundancy or a change of circumstance such as moving to the UK from another country with no qualifications, but there is always an option for our students to try something new.

When asked about what advice they would give to prospective students, one student said: ‘’The drive you have. If you love, you will do it.

“Just do it. Stop being afraid. Try it.”

For many, we understand that the cost of the course can be a real hurdle but we encourage prospective students to look into the Advance Learning Loan that can be provided, easing the barriers.

Not only does this course give you hands-on experience but it also shows the range of careers that this qualification could deliver you to as your career advances. One of our students, originally wanted to become a Vet but since taking the course, they believe that they would like to work for the RSPCA. Our lecturers in the Animal Care Centre have many different specialities and backgrounds in their fields so were able to support with this decision. Our students stated that the tutors “all want to support you.”

If you wish to change career paths or follow a passion for animals, our students state: “It’s never late to do something you really want.”
