HE student Patricia follows in daughter’s footsteps to get her foundation degree from City of Bristol College

A 43-year-old student said the ‘support from all angles’ made a huge difference when completing her Early Years Foundation Degree at City of Bristol College.

Patricia Songu studied with us from 2019 to 2021 after following in her eldest daughter’s footsteps, saying she was attracted to the course thanks to the ‘dynamic teaching’ and the inclusive environment.

She added: “The course wasn’t easy but because I had support from all angles and I worked hard and persevered, I got through it.”

Patricia particularly enjoyed completing presentation tasks, workshops and project writing. She has now gone on to work in a private nursery and is counting down the days to her graduation ceremony in November.

Patricia is encouraging current and future students to consider studying at City of Bristol College’s University Centre, saying it is the ‘best way to go’ as she has ‘been there, done that and has no regrets’.

Patricia added: “You reap what you sow. Determination and perseverance is a key trait to a successful life. If you keep determined long enough, you will achieve your true potential.

“Just remember, you can do anything you set your mind to, but it takes action, determination, persistence and the courage to face your fears.”
