Following the departure of Lee Probert, the college’s Principal and Chief Executive and the withdrawal from his designate, Palvinder Singh, the Board of Governors has announced interim arrangements for this leadership role.
In determining the way forward, the Board has been keen to ensure that there is clarity in accountability and stability for staff and students. The Board has decided to nominate Richard Harris (previously Vice Principal, Finance and Professional Services) as Acting Principal and Chief Executive. This decision protects the integrity of the structures with responsibility for leading and developing teaching, learning and assessment, which are led by Emma Jarman (Vice Principal for Curriculum and Quality).
As the college concludes the current academic year and position the start of the new academic year it is important that there is a clear focus on students and their outcomes and that preparations for an autumn term inspection are robust. This decision enables that to happen and minimises the impact on other people who might also be asked to take on additional responsibilities.
Richard will take up his new responsibilities from 1 June 2019.
The Board will finalise arrangements to recruit a permanent Principal and Chief Executive in due course. Subsequently, interim arrangements are expected to be in place for the next six to nine months.
