With 17 more stalls than the previous year, the South Bristol Jobs and Apprenticeships Fair was back with a bang for its seventh successful year at our South Bristol Skills Academy yesterday.
Local employers descended to the centre offering hundreds of fantastic job vacancies and apprenticeships. We also welcomed support organisations that were there to discuss training and college courses with our event attendees.
The fair’s success is due to a strong collaboration between Karin Smyth MP for Bristol South, Bristol City Council, The Department for Work and Pensions, City of Bristol College and other city partners.
Talking of the fair, Principal and Chief Executive Officer of City of Bristol College, Julia Gray, commented: “As a college, we are delighted to welcome the South Bristol Jobs and Apprenticeships Fair again this year for 2023.
“We are incredibly proud to continue to work in strong partnership with Karin Smyth MP, Bristol City Council, The Department for Work and Pensions and other city partners to host the annual event.
“Giving our students and wider community access to local employers who are offering hundreds of fantastic job vacancies and apprenticeships is a vital resource and is something that we’re extremely passionate about delivering.”
Karin Smyth MP for Bristol South was in attendance and spoke of her passion for the event, commenting: “I want to thank everyone who attended this year’s South Bristol Jobs and Apprenticeships Fair at South Bristol Skills Academy.
“It’s an incredibly important event for South Bristol as it helps people unlock their potential and find a way into their dream career. I’m passionate about delivering a Jobs and Apprenticeships Fair each year; one that brings together brilliant local employers and gives the community the opportunity to come and meet them face-to-face and get connected with them.
“As ever, I’m hugely grateful to all involved for making this year’s fair such a brilliant occasion.”
Both students and the wider community were warmly welcomed, finding themselves attending an event that offers guidance and support to all whilst they were free to explore the stands belonging to a multitude of employers and support organisations.
The feedback from the event attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with many leaving feeling a sense of inspiration and ready for their next steps towards their dream career having had engaging conversations with potential employers and apprenticeship providers.
