South West Apprenticeship Company celebrate 1,000th apprentice

The South West Apprenticeship Company (SWAC) is celebrating the placement of its 1,000th apprentice this term as the company also marks its 12th birthday.

SWAC is an award-winning Apprenticeship Training Agency (ATA) and is a subsidiary company of City of Bristol College which supports employers in the South West to recruit and employ apprentices.

The company provides employers with apprentices who will be employed by SWAC but work for the host employer full-time, with their experienced team offering support to the employer and apprentice throughout their training.

The company, which gained its first apprentice in 2010, and joined the College group in 2012, has now reach four-figures with its latest recruit, Taylor, who has begun a Level 3 Business Administration apprenticeship with leading medical practice, Rosebank Health.

Managing Director at SWAC, Clare Vertigen, said: “I am so proud of the SWAC team and ALL our apprentices. I love reviewing their progress and looking to see where they are now and sharing their success stories. I am really pleased to announce we have just placed our 1,000 apprentice with our long-standing host employer, Rosebank Health in Gloucester. They hosted their first SWAC apprentice back in November 2013 and have had a total of 27 apprentices since then.”

SWAC have now recruited 430 students onto a business administration or finance position, 187 apprentices into engineering and manufacturing roles, 87 learners into IT and 88 into the health and social care field.

Jon Tremeer from Rosebank Health said: “As the largest practice in Gloucestershire, Rosebank Health has many opportunities to develop apprentices who want to start a career in administration or reception. SWAC has supported us throughout this process by providing high-calibre candidates suitable for the roles. SWAC provides support to our apprentices and to us, and they organise additional training via colleges for our apprentices to gain NVQs and BTEC Diplomas. SWAC frequently visit us to review our apprentices’ progress and to discuss further development goals.”

SWAC is now setting its sights on its next target of 2,000 apprentices! You can find out more about SWAC and how the team can help your business.
