It’s cause for celebration at City of Bristol College as during National Apprenticeship Week 2025 this week, it’s been revealed that one of our very own has been recognised as the South West Apprenticeship Company (SWAC) Apprentice of the Month!
We are pleased to announce that Finance Apprentice, John Mavroudis, has been commended as the SWAC Apprentice of the Month! This incredible accolade is one that is greatly deserved following John’s continual hard work and dedication to his apprenticeship.
John Mavroudis has only been with the college on his apprenticeship for four months, but has already made quite the impression within the Finance Team. He joined the team at a very busy time of year and helped to keep Purchase Ledger running smoothly during the college’s busy first term.
John was very quick to get the hang of his day-to-day tasks in Purchase Ledger and Purchase to Pay Maintenance and has always shown a willingness to learn and a brilliant eagerness, including, being part of the team discussions; whether discussing priorities or improvements.
John joined the Finance Team with ease and it wasn’t long before his sense of humour, confidence, maturity and cheeky persona became apparent. As the Finance Team comments: “He is simply a lovely young man to have around and works hard to hit targets and deadlines.”
Now in his fourth month, John is helping to train another new SWAC Apprentice, Bethany, and has also started to work with the Cash & Banking Team to learn new skills, as part of the Apprentice Skill Rotation Scheme that is offered in Finance.
Recently, John successfully passed his first exam with merit; this achievement combined with how much help he is to fellow colleagues bodes well for the bright future that he has ahead of him.
Speaking of this incredible feat, John commented: “I feel honoured to be named SWAC’s apprentice of the month. Thank you to all of the SWAC team for choosing me for this award.”
As a college, we are incredibly proud to witness just how much he is thriving in his apprenticeship.
