A City of Bristol College has found her passion for working with children after earning her degree with us.
Olivia Croker joined the College in 2018 on the Level 4 Foundation Degree in Early Years and has now been handed her diploma in BA (Hons) Early Childhood Studies and she has praised the new opportunities the degree has opened for her.
The 41-year-old said the course gave her the ‘knowledge and understanding’ she needed to further her career in early childhood and education.
She added: “I enjoyed that we attended only one full day per week and that class sizes were small. We had wonderful tutors throughout the course who were incredibly supportive.
“My understanding is that university classes may be spread out across the week with much larger class sizes, so this fit me better.”
Since completing her studies at the College, Olivia is now exploring teaching within a higher education setting and said anyone thinking about studying a degree-level course at City of Bristol College should ‘go for it’!
Kathy Goodsir, Olivia’s lecturer, said: “Throughout the three years, Olivia has made excellent progress despite some hurdles, and achieved a first-class honours degree!”
The Early Childhood course Olivia completed was delivered by City of Bristol College in partnership with our university partner, Bath Spa University, which gives students the opportunity to stay local but still gain the degree they want in a smaller, more intimate learning environment.
Olivia added: “I enjoyed every moment of my course and found the in-depth knowledge and understanding I gained to be invaluable both professionally and personally.”
