Update: GCSE and AS/A2 exams
Following the announcement that GCSE and A level exams had been cancelled for Summer 2020, we have been waiting on further updates as to how students would receive a calculated grade. The government have published further guidance today on how they will award qualifications. In summary, they have said:
- Teachers will be asked to submit a grade that they believe their students would have received if the exams had gone ahead
- The exam boards will then combine this with relevant data such as prior attainment to produce a grade for each student for each subject
- The aim is to produce these grades by the usual date in August when results are released
- They are working with exam boards to offer additional exam sittings in the Autumn term should students wish to do so.
For those students studying on a technical/vocational programme, we would like to reassure you that further guidance about your grades will be released and we expect further updates next week. Please do expect further communication from us about your study programme.
