Find out more about our A Level pathways and how to apply

This course is for adults aged 19 and over. You should be interested in the aviation industry and be committed to developing your understanding and skills in order to work in the sector. Whether you are looking to begin your career, change career or return to work, this could be a great opportunity to upgrade your skills, build your confidence and your career prospects.

You will learn about the aviation industry and different job roles and requirements for working with passengers, baggage and aircraft. For example, airport check-in, security, baggage processing, aircraft marshalling, arrivals services, boarding and dispatch. You will develop the knowledge, skills and qualities you need to work in these roles, for example aviation language and procedures, communications skills and customer service skills. If you need to improve your maths, IT and English skills to meet employer requirements, you can study these subjects at college.

To join this course, you need English Language GCSE grade 3 (D) or above, or English Functional Skills at Level 1 or above. You also need experience of working in a customer service role and a passion to work in the aviation industry.

Most of our adult students progress to employment in the aviation industry in a range of roles in passenger, baggage and aircraft handling. If you complete the course successfully and meet employer requirements, you will be fast tracked directly to a job interview for the role of your choice. You could be working at Bristol Airport within six months of starting the course.

You will need to buy your aviation uniform and pay for trips throughout the year. If you are on a limited income, you may be eligible to receive help with these costs from our Learner Support Funding Bursary.
