This course is for adults aged 19+ who want to try ceramics, return to clay after a break or develop confidence in a welcoming studio setting. It is suited to beginners and those looking for a creative, hands-on evening course.

You will learn introductory ceramics skills such as shaping, joining, building form, refining surfaces and exploring glaze. You will develop an understanding of the making process from initial idea through to decoration and finished fired outcomes.

No formal qualifications are required for this course.

No previous ceramics experience is needed. Curiosity, patience and a willingness to experiment are encouraged.

This course can support progression to our HNC/HND provision, including HNC/D Film and TV, Graphic Design and Photography. It can also support further creative study, independent making, craft practice or more advanced ceramics courses.

There may be a small additional charge for materials and firing, depending on college arrangements and the scale of work produced. This should be confirmed in final enrolment information.
