This course is for beginners who want to learn how to use Revit for architecture, structural engineering or MEP (mechanical, electrical and plumbing) projects.

It is suitable for anyone looking to develop practical BIM modelling skills for the construction industry.

You will learn how to use Revit to create and manage 3D building models within your chosen discipline. This includes:

  • Setting up and managing Revit projects
  • Creating and editing 3D building models
  • Producing 2D drawings and project documentation directly from your models
  • Using the key tools and features needed to create accurate BIM models

You do not need previous experience using CAD software, although it may be beneficial.

You will need:

  • An interest in learning Revit

A working knowledge of English and Maths Confidence using Windows-based computers

  • An understanding of construction processes relevant to the discipline you wish to study

You will also need to attend an entry interview before enrolling on the course. Interviews are available in person or by telephone.

In-person interviews take place on Wednesdays at 4pm during term time at the College Green Centre, in room 6E22H. You do not need to book an appointment; simply sign in at reception. Please allow up to an hour for your interview.

Telephone interviews and alternative interview times can be arranged by calling 0117 312 2703 or emailing CAD@cityofbristol.ac.uk

On successful completion, you will have the practical skills to create 3D BIM models and technical drawings using Revit for a range of construction projects.

We recommend progressing to CAD: Revit Families to develop your skills further. You can also explore other 3D CAD courses offered by the college.

There are no required additional costs beyond the course fee. Please contact us for information about the current course fee.

As part of your enrolment, you will be entitled to access a free educational version of Revit from Autodesk. You will need access to a suitable computer to use the software at home, although you can use the College's CAD computers if you prefer.

Please contact us if you need further information about software or computer requirements.
