A Levels provide a broad and academically focused programme of study, allowing you to develop detailed knowledge and understanding in your chosen subjects. They are widely recognised qualifications and can help prepare you for university, higher-level study, apprenticeships or employment.

Interested in joining us? Discover how to apply and find out how we’ll support you through the admissions process.

A Levels are suitable for students who want to continue academic study after GCSEs and are interested in developing their knowledge, independent learning and subject-specific skills. They are particularly suitable for students considering university or careers that require further academic qualifications.

You will study the content and key concepts relevant to your chosen A Level subjects. You will develop subject knowledge alongside skills such as research, critical thinking, problem-solving, analysis, communication and independent study.

Typically, you will need a minimum of five GCSEs at grade 4 including English Language and Maths, with specific grade requirements for individual A Level subjects. Entry requirements can vary depending on the subjects you choose.

A Levels can lead to university and higher education, higher and degree apprenticeships, further professional study or employment. The subjects you choose can also help you progress towards a wide range of careers and professions.

You may need to purchase subject-specific equipment, materials, books or other resources depending on your chosen subjects. Any additional costs will vary by course and will be explained by the College.

How to apply?

Your admissions journey will follow a number of straightforward steps and will likely follow a similar format to the steps outlined on our ‘How to Apply‘ page.

For 16-18 courses, places will be offered for a specific course of study at City of Bristol College, subject to the applicant meeting all course entry criteria.
